Leigh Hagglund, DNP, APRN, CNP

About Leigh
Dr. Hagglund provides thoughtful, compassionate care that is holistic and individualized to each person’s unique needs.   She uses a warm, conversational style infused with her quirky sense of humor that is engaging and makes talking about the tough stuff of life a comforting process.  She uses her clinical expertise to accurately diagnose and effectively treat a variety of psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Hagglund is a board certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.  She has both a Master’s degree and a Master’s degree and Doctorate in Nursing Practice with over twenty years of experience working in the field of mental health.

She also taught as an Associate Professor at the College of St. Scholastica in the graduate nursing department.  She loves to teach and uses this passion to ensure that each patient is armed with knowledge about their illness, treatment options and expected outcomes.  This way, she can partner with her patients to be active participants in their care.

Because our mental health depends on the health of our whole body, Dr. Hagglund completes a comprehensive assessment that considers lifestyle factors, such as diet, exercise, and stress management as well as other medical issues that might be impacting her patients’ wellness.  If necessary, she may order laboratory, pharmacogenetic, and psychological testing in order to customize each patient’s treatment plan.  Methods of treatment include the use of medications, psychotherapy, and lifestyle coaching.  She may also recommend pharmacy grade nutraceuticals that are evidence-based to improve cellular function and how the body uses prescription medications.

Dr. Hagglund uses an eclectic therapy approach that combines psychodynamic, psychoanalytic and cognitive behavioral therapies.  She is also a dedicated yogi and may incorporate various philosophies and exercises from the ancient practice of yoga.
