About Lisa

Lisa Sorensen is a licensed psychologist and has over 20 years working with clients in a variety of different settings. Lisa strives to provide her clients practical and effective techniques and resources for acquiring insight and effecting meaningful changes in their lives. Lisa’s knowledge and experience of human behavior enables her to provide genuine, effective, and ethical services that are designed to meet clients’ specific needs.

Lisa’s areas of specialty include stress and anxiety management, emotional intelligence, improving communication, grief work, depression, neuro-leadership, enhancing relationships, and reengaging personally and professionally.

Lisa is highly sought out by organizations and on the speaker’s circuit for her expertise in Emotional Intelligence.  She brings these skills to the individual client as well during therapy and coaching.   She helps clients develop insight to understand themselves better, which improves their personal and professional relationships and improves the client’s ability to make effective life decisions. 

Lisa is passionate about guiding people through life transitions. Besides her demonstrated experience in working with clients during career transitions, she also has a passion for guiding clients through other times of struggle and pain, such as grief and loss, interpersonal conflict/relationship issues, self-esteem issues, identity issues, and physical health struggles. She believes in developing a therapeutic relationship that is supportive and nurturing.  With passion, humor and dedication, Mrs. Sorensen brings a fresh approach when working with clients. She provides guidance that is nonjudgmental and comfortable, as well as empowering.

Lisa works with patients with many diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, social phobia, performance anxiety, OCD, body image issues, and ADHD utilizing various therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, IPT, narrative, and supportive psychotherapy. Her unique background in career coaching and organizational psychology enhances her work with these therapeutic modalities as she is able to combine therapeutic and practical approaches to a client’s current situation.  She helps clients develop cognitive, behavioral, and practical tools that they will repeatedly use over their lifetime in many different environments and with many life challenges.

She earned a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from St. Mary’s University and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Organizational and Forensic Psychology from Walden University.

Mrs. Sorensen has lived in California, Australia and Minnesota. In her free time, Lisa enjoys kayaking, cooking, laughing, enjoying time and family and her animals, working on home projects, volunteering, and experiencing the wonders of life!
